After the 1st reunion
in 2005, the 13 men who attended felt it was such a wonderful healing experience
for each of them that they agreed to work together to get the word
out for a 2nd reunion.
In June 2006, 33 B Company men re-united in Branson, Missouri. Each one had pictures to share and stories to remember. As we gathered in the Hospitality room at the Radisson, everyone enjoyed sitting around and visiting about the past and the present.
On Friday morning the “2nd Annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans” parade was a highlight for all of us. As rode on our make-shift float down the 5 miles parade route in the 95 degree heat, it was such a great feeling as the crowds along the route waved American flags, waved and shouted “Thank you” and “Welcome Home”. Fellow vets stood at attention as we paraded by and patriotic music played all along the way. It was just a great feeling, a real high.
On Friday evening there was an informal banquet. Capt Albrecht gave a very personal talk welcoming us all home. After a moment to remember those that didn’t come home, the floor was opened to anyone that wanted to share a thought. Many did get up and share what had been on their minds and in their hearts for years.
With our final good-byes, we each agreed that this was a great experience and would be ready to do it again next year.
